A life lesson that was learned from chris's journey was to reasearch before you go on an adventure outside of your native ways. He is told by Jim Gallien who is driving him to the stampede trail where he'll embark on his journey, that he was not prepaired well enough for Alaska's wild terain. Jim lives in Alaska and knows what Chris needs to survive in these types of wilderness's. Chris didn't have good enough boots, nor a big enough gun to handle big game like Bears, Moose, and wolves. This tells the reader that you should always look ahead and reasearch plans for the future. If Chris would have known what he needed to survive Alaska then he might have lived, but because he rushed leaving society he had inapproperiate items for the journey and was not able to survive.
